SYNOD REMINDS PREMIER OF PROMISE. NO CORPORATE CONTROL. Pur Pprss Association. AUCKLAND, October 25. The Anglican Synod, after debating Liquor Reform last night, decided to comma nix-ate with the Prime Minister reminding him of his prcraavfae to in troduce drastic reforms of. tbe licensing laws. f . The Synod rejected on the voices three other motions which sought to give approval to the Corporate Control scheme propounded during last election. The defeated proposals were, that the Synod shquld commend to the earnest, and careful consideration of Christian people the Corporate Control Board ; that the committee appointed by the clergy and bishop should take steps to organise public opinion in the direction of licensing reform ; and that the attitude of the Synod should be made known to the Archbishop and bishops of New Zealand.
