TAWA FLAT RAILWAY DEVIATION.
URGED BY WELLINGTON MEMBERS. Phil Press Association - . WELLINGTON, October 24. A deputation of Wellington members of Parliament waited on the Hon J. G. Coates to-day and asked that the £IO,OOO on the Estimates for the Tawa Flat deviation, be expended this financial year in commencing the work. The importance of improving this portion of the Main Trunk system by eliminating the haulage on the presenr heavy grade between Wellington Hzid Tawa Flat was stressed. The Minister replied that he realised the importance of the undertaking, but said that he favoured tabulating the various developmental railway undertakings in the Dominion in the order of urgency and then decide which should ho started and brought to a completion. Trial surveys had been made of the route and the engineering survey was now to be made.
