THE FERRY SERVICE. The Maori left Wellington punctually at 7.45 p.m. ou Monday, and arrived at Lyttelton at 6.45 a.in. yesterday, well up to her schedule time. The new plant is working splendidly, and the company officiala are elated at tho success. The Maori carried a big complement of passengers. SHIPPING NOTES. The Wakatu sails to-day tor Kaikoura and Wellington. Sho is duo back on Saturday, and will sail again on Monday. The Storm, which arrived early day morning, will leave for Timaru and Dunedin to-day. On her arrival back at the end of the week, the Storm loads for Wellington and Wanganui. To-day s arrivals included the Calm, from Bluff, Dunedin and Timaru. In the afternoon she will leave lor Wellington and From Dunedin and Timaru, the Breeze should be hero on Thursday, and the same day aho will sail for Wellington and Wanganui. The Ga.le’3 arrival from Wellington is scheduled for Saturday. After discharging she will go to Timaru and Dunedin. The John is to arrive tonight from Wellington. She will take cargo for Wellington and New Plymouth, and sail tomorrow. The arrival of the Holmdale from Timaru is set down for to-morrow, when she is expected to leave for Wellington, Picton and Wanganui.

The overhaul of the Orepuki has been delayed. In consequence, the vessel's departure for the West Coast has been postponed till Friday. The Makura, which left Sydney for Vancouver on October 4, is due at the Canadian port on Saturday. The Mahana has been loading at Newcastle for New Zealand ports and the United Kingdom. She is due at Lyttelton on October 31. Tho Port Sydney, which sailed from Wellington on September 6 for London, leaves for New Zealand again on December 5.
