If you have left your house “to look after itself” during your holidays—as so many people do —immediately on : your return throw open all the windows ! and let in the air, so as to get rid of j any close, musty smell. Turn on the j tap which supplies the drinking water, I and leave it. run for about five min- * utes, so that all stagnant water in the ; pipes may be cleared away. It is wisest to air the bedding by a fire, or if the beds have been left madeup to place a couple of stone hot-water bottles standing upright (they will be kept in postion by the bedclothes) in each bed. so that warm air can circulatefreely throughout and obviate any ■ dampness \ !
