ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
INQUEST. An inquest concerning the death of Daniel Hegarty. who expired outside the New Zealander Hotel on Monday afternoon was opened by Mr H. A . Wi ddow so n. S. M.. yes t e rday. Evidence was given by Alfred .Barrett. licensee of the New Zealander Hotel, that he saw Hegarty staggering in the doorway about IJo p m. and he ordered him out. believing him to be under the influence of liquor. Hegartv staggeied along the side of the hotel and was seen to fall. One of the employees went outside and railed out that Hegarty was not drunk, hut had had ;> lit- He was removed into the hotel right-of-way and stimulants were procured. hut he died a few minutes before the arrival ef a doctor. The in quest was -adjourned till tomorrow afternoon, when medical evidence will be taken
