MATERNITY BONUSES.

The following letter from the Pic ton Hospital Board, with reference to maternity bonuses, was read at the meeting of the North Canterbury Hospital Hoard to-day:— " That, with a view to encouraging the birth-rate, the following resolution he forwarded to ail hospital hoards in tire Dominion, urging co-operation with this.hoard in an endeavour to have maternity bonuses extended to all boards which have maternity homes under their control : the said bonus to be applied towards the cost of maternity fees payable lo the hoard. And that each hoard forward a copy of the above resolution to the Minister of Health and members of Parliament for their districts, with a covering letter, pointing out the benefit the child would derive through the mother being relieved of the menial strain of prospective incidental 'expenses.”
