ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

ACCIDENT AT RACES. There was a collision during the running of the Ashley Trot Handicap at the Rangiora Races yesterday, and A. Messervey, the rider of Rainbow, was thrown. He was severely injured about the head and was admitted to the Brocklehurst Private Hospital unconscious. Last night it was reported that Messervey’s condition was unchanged.

M’Flinn, who rode Lamorack in the Roseneath Handicap and was tossed off before the horses went to the post, had his collarbone broken. FOUND DEAD. WATHI, October 22. G. Tt is believed that he was endenvouring to get on a train leaving the racecourse when he fell under the wheels. The body was badly mutilated. Death apparently was instantaneous.

CAPSIZED OVER BANK

Per Press Association. GISBORNE. October 23. Through the capsize of a motor-car over a steep hank while endeavouring to get out of a bog hole on the Arakihi Road, John Penny had three ribs and his shoulder blade fractured. Fortunately the passengers had alighted.
