- Pfr Plt-ESS Association". WELLINGTON, October 22. Despite the counter-attraction of the races and somewhat unpleasant weather conditions there was a largo attendance at the Labour Day sports. The principal events resulted :—looyds Amateur —Gorrie 1. Jenkins 2. Mile—Lander 1, Craig 2. 220yds—Jenkins 1. Levi 2. 880yds—Person 1, Zanda 2- Secondary Schools’ 220yds Championship— Taylor (St Patrick’s). 440yds—Oakley (Technical College). The tramwaymen won the relay race and Carer Memorial Shield. DUNEDIN, October 22. Fine weather prevailed hero for Labour Day. and the holiday was taken advantage of by a very large number of people. The Labour Day picnic drew a crowd exceeding 2000 for a day’s outing to Outra.ni, and athletic sports on the Caledonian Ground, organised hy the Sports TN underlain! Carnival Committee, were also very largely patronised. An evening carnival in His Majesty’s Theatre also proved a very popular place of resort Numbers enjoyed the drr on the beaches and in the public gardens near at hand, or at numerous holiday resorts further from the city.
