Mr and Afrs E. G. Rawnsley left Timaru on Saturday to spend a few days With Mr and Mrs Claud Rawnsley, Ashburton. Mr and Airs Percy Watkins, who have been spending the last fortnight in Timaru, have gone back to Ashburton. The Rev R. Fairmaid and Mrs Fairmaid, who have been visiting Timaru, went back to St Kilda, South Dunedin on Thursday. Air and Airs W. Thomas, Timaru, and their guest, Mrs Copeland, wife of Professor Copeland, Hobart, left for Waimate on Saturday to stay with Airs Jones. The fifth annual Labour Day dance of the Christchurch Plain Dance Assembly will be lie Id to-night at the Sydenham Football Hall. At a meeting of the Phillips town Kindergarten Parents’ Committee held on Thursday evening. the final arrangements were made for tho fancy dress party to bo held in tho Kinder- ! garten this week. Twenty prizes are to be awarded in the different classes and Airs Baxter has kindly consented to supply tho music for tho parry. The beautiful weather on Saturday attracted a targe number to the Lincoln College sports. The sports ground proved a happy meeting ground for the town and country friends of the College students. A garden fete will be held next Saturday at the Rannerdale Soldiers' Home, Papanui, for the purpose of raising funds to send the disabled soldiers resident there to Sumner in December for two months’ change.
