WHALE RAMS A SHIP.
A monitor sperm whale after being harpooned, charged the whaling vessel Brown, of the Pacific Consolidated Whaling Company, and damaged both propeller and shaft, says Reuter in the *' Manchester Guardian. ' J The Brown, commanded by Captain Martinson, had been cruising all day and had taken two whales. Another whale was sighted, and after some manoeuvring the harpoon was launched and found its target. Despite the bad ramming the whale was captured. The Brown later went into dock for repairs.
