PORT MUST COME FROM PORTUGAL.

KING’S BENCH JUDGMENT. By Telegraph—Frees Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received October 22, 10.10 a.m.) LONDON, October 21. The King’s Rench has decided that wine cannot be sold in Britain as Port unless it is produced in Portugal. A description like “ Australian Port ” is false under the Merchandise Marks Act. The matter arose out of a. suit by wine merchants to prevent the sale of Spanish wine under the label of “Tarragona Port ” declaring that it would be a contravention of the AngloPortuguese Treaty and the Merchandise Act. The claim was upheld by the Chief Justice, who declared that it was unarguable.
