VISIT OF CRUISER SQUADRON.

The Minister of Defence stated that information has been received from I England of a tour of the world to be j made by the First Light Cruiser Squndj ion. commencing in November of this year, and visiting New Zealand in j May. 1924. j 'flie ships of the First Light Cruiser j Squardon are: Delhi. Dunedin, Danae,' ; Dauntless and Dragon, all vessels of r the “J>” class, and differing onlv in i small detailsj Their tonnage is 4950 tons, length 472 foet, beam 46 feet, and they carry* I six bin guns, nil on the centre line, j Designed speed twenty-nine knots, and I burns oil fuel only. It- is not known whether all five vessels will take part in this cruise, j* as at least one may be carrying out . The squadron is vemmanded hr RearAdmiral the iron Sir Hubert* G.'Brand. K.C.M.C.. Dunedin at Auckland in May. 1924. when the latter will be re-named ! HALS. New Zealand, and become the I flagship of the Commodore commanding the New Zealand Division of the Roval Navy. I Many of the New Zealand ratings I will return to England in H.M.S. Chatham. to undergo courses of instruction in the various naval establishments. The complement of the new TT.M S. New Zealand will probablv he slightly t less than that of HALS Chatham.
