THREE MEN MISSING.
TAURANGA, October 12. Grave anxiety is felt for the safetv of three residents, Messrs Evans, Morgan and Dickson, who left here at three o clock on Wednesday afternoon in a launch to go fishing.’ Thev had only a loaf and a pound of butter, and no word has been received of them since. To-day a fisherman saw a bout on the beach at Matakama Island, near Katikati entrance, and a dinghy on the beach about half a mile away. There was no sign of the men. The fisherman was unable to get on to the beach owing to the breakers. A party now has gone to the island to reach the stranded boat overland and is expected to return to-night. Wednesday night was very dirty with heavy rain and wind and the party left the harbour when the other boats were returning for shelter.
