WRITING COMPETITION.
FOR FOURTH STANDARD. The third writing competition promoted by the Star * is for Fourth Standard pupils in Canterbury and Westland schools. The competitors are reqi:ested to write the following verse on ordinary writing or exercise book paper : How happy is he born ar.d taught, That- serveth not another’s will : Whose armour is bis honest thought. And simple truth fcis utmost skill: Competitors should mark their entries 4 * Writing <-00: pet it ion." and send them to the Editor of the “ Star.'* Entries must be received by October 27. The present competition is open to all Fourth Standard pupils in Canterbury and Westland schools. Prizes will be 10s. os. and 2s 6d. The assistance of teachers will be appreciated in these competition^. The result- of the Firth Standard Competition will be announced on Thursday.
