NEGLECTING A CHILD.
TWO NATIVES FINED. Pit Prkss Association. 1 >ANNEVIRK E; October 13. An usual case was heard before the Magistrate, Mr Dyer, at Ormondville, when two natives were charged with wilfully neglecting a child four years of age. Defendants had adopted the infant in December, 1921. they being relatives , of its parents, but in May last they abandoned it, and left the district. The child ;vas then in a bad way It was hungry, badly nourished, covered with sores and clad only in a frock and an old coat. The Magistrate said that the case was a very bad one. Accused were each fined £lO or two months’ imprisonment with hard' labour,
