BOWLERS AND GUESTS.
To the Editor. Sir,—ln reply to “ A Woman,” who writes so peculiarly (with a peculiarity of rtyle) in referen?* to the cptrnng day of the New Brighton Bowling Club, I beg to say that the statements contained in her letter are far from correct. Regal'd in g the paragraph re * bagmen ” refusing to take “no” for in answer, I would politely inform the irriter that I, being the only male concerned in the various competitions, unacsistatingly say that no one can re»each me for my attitude towards any person during the afternoon, and I £ive an emphatic denial that people vere pestered. As there were only five competitions the statement made of continuous and persistent drawing is a iecided stretch of the imagination. Being “ hot under the skin ” is evilently a new complaint known only to ” A Woman,” who also mentions
‘ swallowing a cup of tea.” I feel the public are not foolish mough to “ swallow ” the ridiculous itatements made that the members of Dur club were rude and insulting to Lheir guests.—l am, ets., W. HERRICK. New Brighton. October 10.
