SEVERN FLOODED.
BORE SWEEPS AWAY VILLAGE. HOUSES LEFT INLAND. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyr ght Australian and N.Z. Cable AssociaL >-a. (Received October 13, 8.45 a.m.) LONDON, October 13. The famous bore which sweeps up the Severn reached remarkable dimensions. Instead of rising ten feet, the river rose twenty-three feet in an hour and swept away a bungalow township at Severn Beach. Fortunately the summer holiday season had ended so there was no loss of life. A dancing hall and concert room were washed away. Some houses which were floating down the Severn were left high and dry far inland. Several other villages, such as Burnham in Somerset, were flooded. The people barricaded themselves in their homes.
