EGG-LAYING COMPETITIONS

PAPANUI. Heavy laying in all the teßts was recorded for the twenty-sixth week ending October 6. A study of the totals to date will show that there are several birds within a. few eggs of the leaders, which makes the competition interesting. Few changes in positions are likely to take

place during the next two months, and after Christmas there is usually a. slackening in the producing powers of most of the birds before entering on the last three xjionths' lay. The following are the leading birds in their respective tests:— LIGHT BREED, SINGLE HEN CHAMPIONSHIP.
