BALL AT ASHLEY.
The committee of benedicts whe organised the return ball to the bachelors and spinsters of the Ashley district on Friday evening are to be congratulated on the results of their efforts, which demonstrated the fact- that the% have thoroughly mastered the art oJ conducting a successful social function. The arrangements, although carried oui at short notice, left nothing to be desired, the entire proceedings beiii£ characterised by a joyous atmosphere of gaiety. The decorations, carried out in red and white, looked most effective, while excellent music was supplied by Hunni hell’s Jazz Band from Rangiora. Supper was served in ar adjoining room on tables adorned wit-1: spring flowers. Messrs Robert Peacl; and S. Smith were M.C.’s, and extra.*: were contributed by Mrs A. Petrie and Mr Whitham. During the evening Mr Norman Skinner, on behalf of the bachelors and spinsters, heartily thanked the benedicts for the evening’s etijovment thev had provided. The Grand March was led off by Miss M. M’NalN and Mr N. Skinner.
