A GERMAN REQUEST.
SOME RECOGNITION OF SACRIFICE. By Telegraph—Press Association—CopyTizhl Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON. September 29. The political observer of the “ Daily Telegraph ” says that the Marquess Curzon had a conference with Dr F. Sthamer, German Ambassador, whose instructions were to press for some acknowledgment, on Britain's part, of Germany’s colossal sacrifice in calling off passive resistance. The Marquess could only tell Dr Sthamer that there was no reason to believe that the character of the i occupation would not change when the consequences of the re-callcd ordinances had proved Germany’s good [ faith. ; The correspondent hints that the ! Foreign Minister advised Germany to appoint ambassadors to Paris and Brussels, and to commence negotiations promptly.
