A NEW CRISIS.
BRITAIN AND FRANCE DIVIDED. “ TIMES ” COMMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright " The Times " Service. (Received May 11, 13.20 a.m. LONDON, May 10. The Paris correspondent of “ The T-mes ” says: “A new European crisis has l>een caused by the French precipitancy in replying to Germany. It is certain that the consequences of the h'ow to the Entente are far more serious than any previous division between France and Britain. The parting of the ways in January was cordial. Today. Anglo French friendship has sue tained a more severe trial, for there is unfriendliness in this parting. The British pronouncement in Parliament caused consternation in Paris, which did not anticipate that Britain would stand so firmly 011 :» matter of principle as well ae diplomatic etiquette. Never was the Entente so menaced. The visit of the King and Queen to Italy emphasises the illation of France, and Lord Ourzon’s publicly expressed resentment at France’s lack of consideration for the British views has s riously perturbed France.”
