THE SILVER BAND. Past and pro?ent members of the Silver Baud and a le<v oi the honorary members, spent Wednesday evening rer> pleasantly together in the bandroom. The gathering took ilie form of a smoke concert, arid the president cf the band (Mr C I. Jennings) occupied the chair. Oates": “Kindred Associations ,J ; “The l.adies.” responded to by Air J. C. Thompson : and “ The Press.*' Those who contributed songs were Messrs D. TV. L. Mehrtom. TV. Barwick. G. Sturgesa. and J. During the evening reference was mads to the band contest to be held in Christchurch next November, in which tlm TlangiovaBand intends to compete. PLUNKET SOCIETY. Th*> monthly meeting of the Rangiora branch of the Plunket, Society .was held on Wednesday afternoon. Airs J. Cntherwood presiding. CAB ACCIDENT. When cn his way front Flax ton to R-angjcra yesterday afternoon Mr R. Cunningham. Government dairy instructor. had the misfortune to meet with an accident, which, however, did not result in anything more serious to the occupants of the enr than a few cuts and bruises. The muter-car. however. was considerably damaged. The accident happened through the steering gear breaking, which threw the car against an electric light pole, overturning it into the ditch.
