GOOD WELLINGTON SERVICE. HANMER ISOLATED. Mr Bennett. Superintendent oi Telegraphs, stated this morning that there were still no wires to the .North Jsiaml via the East ( oast, but the posituu since eight o’clock this mor mug wa© I that an improved circuit had uecu procured from Christchurch via Giey-mPut-h, Nelson and Blenheim direct to Wellington. I By this circuit the Telegraph Office was now enabled to work the multiplex fast printing machine which at the present time was doing splendid work, and was practically coping with all the j work corning to hand. Things were at normal and would remain so as ; long as the circuit held up. j There was no trouble whatever in the south. Hannier Springs at the present time, Mr Bennett said, was ab- \ solutely isolated so far as telegraphic i communication was concerned. Communication with Kaikoura had not been restored this morning, but it expected to be restored this afternoon.
