VOYAGES FROM THE OLD COPWTRY. TALES OF THE EMIGRANT SHIPS. The ship Westminster, a fine vessel of Young and Co.'s line, arrived in this port on Saturday last, the 9th inst., from London direct, eighty eight days out. She brings a large number of passengers. among whom are several who have been with us before. The number of working immigrants brought by the Westminster at a time when no funds from the colony are available in assist since towards their passage money, indicates that the greatest confidence in this settlement is entertained~Tsv them selves and "by those who supplied means tor their immigration. The voyage of the Westminster was remarkably ' fine and short, and all the passengers speak of the comfort ot the voyage. ARRIVAL OF THE ASHBURTON. (From the “ Lyttelton Times,” January 16, 1923.) Arrived.—January 15, ship Ashburton. 589 tons, King, from London, via Wellington. Passengers.—Mr and Mrs Sonson and six children, Messrs A. E. White. Garrett. Hichens and Smith (five children.) The Aahburton left Wellington on Wednesday evening, but does not bring down the paper of that date. She' lav seven weeks in Wellington Harbour, during which time she fitted a new n i 'zeii-mast. She left in port the John MacViear and the Gleaner, both of which vessels had arrived before her. The Southern Cross was loading wool in Hawke’s Bay.
