ROWING.
CLUB AND ASSOCIATION' DISPUTE. The Akaroa Regatta dub has received a letter from the Canterbury Rowing Association in regard to their withholding £l6 prize money won by the Avon Rowing Club on account of a birth certificate not being produced. The association requested that, the club should comply with the rules and pay over the amount to the association. The Regatta Club met on Saturday evening to discuss the letter and it was decided by resolution not to pa.v the prize money in dispute to the Rowing Association and to enclose copies of the two* letter** sent to the Avon Club on December 13 and January 25. THE INTERSTATE CONFERENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Associatioa. PERTH, May 7. At the annual' Interstate Rowing Conference. New South Wales submitted a motion out of courtesy to New Zealand to allow the Dominion to compete in Interstate races. This was defeated on the ground that the whole strength of the 'Dominion wduld be pitted against individual States. A request on behalf of New Zealand for the Australian championship to be rowed eVtry two years alternatively in New Zealand and Australia was rejected, but the conference decided that any future races would be left in the hands of the proposed board of management to control rowing in Australia.
