The annual meeting of the Kaiapoi Woollen Coy. Miniature Rifle dub was held in the company’s social room last week. The president, Mr G. B Bowie, occupied the chair. The annum report showed a marked improvement ( in last season 1 © shoci-mg The team finished third wi the junior competition, winning 13 matches o»t of 18. and also secured second place in the junior championship match. Several very enjoyable soeiols wore hold during, the season, the profits from these going to the purchase of new B.S.A. rifles. The balance-sheet showed the club to be in a very satisfactory condition. The New Brighton Miniature Rifle Club on Tues4*v evening hist again tried out its No. 1 team. The team fired twice, and the total snores were 272 and 273 against the previous week's 276. The scores of the team were as follows;—R. D. Duthie 35, F. Lightfoot 35, A. Munas 34. G. Catton 34. V. Tims 34. G. TV. Bishop 33, A. Duthie 33. In the second shoot the Duthie Bros, each put on possibles, and Bishop 34. All the other scores were much the same as the first shoot. The following possibles were scored during the week:—R. On last week’s shooting R. Duthie and F. Ligbtfoot both received points in the Hotty Competition. The Cashmerp Club held its weekly competition for the M’Lean Hottv Button last week. There was an excellent attendance of members, twenty tivking part in the competition, which was won by H. M’Elroy for the second veek running with 34. the next hesfc being Walker 33, and S. The opening shoot of the Ladies' Club at Ward’s took the form of a match between teams picked by Mrs Fuller (captain), and Airs Salter (vicecaptaine). The Working Men’s Club have lost four of the best shots this year in J. Wilson (gone north). J. Tirnbrell (gone to the West Coast), "Bob” Smith (gone to the AVest Coast), and Harold Biggins. The last named was instrumental. in forming a new club, the Sydenham R.A.O.R. Lodge, and hr? is the coach. Arthur Shaw, another ok! AV.M.C. shot, will be shooting for R.A.0.8. The olub will have a range in Colombo Street, opposite tbe Fire Station. Joe Left coached * the. “ Lyttelton Times” members last Tuesday night, and they have- benefited by hi© instruction. This applies more to the younger members, who ahould not load their rifles until thfejr have taken up a correct firing position on the mounds. During a practice shoot held by tho Cashmere Olub last Saturday afternoon *' Fred ” Judkins paid a visit to the range, and had tbe satisfaction ot notching a possible. This its a good shoot considering he has net shot with a miniature rifle for several years. “ Fred ” has decided to join up with the Caahmere Club, and will shoot with thAt olub’s senior team when available. It ia l’gther unfortunate that Christchurch Mechanical Workers’ Club hns bad to disband, for this season at any rate, owing to shortage of members. This team showed good promise last season, when it finished fourth on the liet in the junior competition out ol ten teams competing. All entries for the winter competition* close with the secretary, Mr A. Tongue, at tbe association range on Tuesday next. Ma.y 15, at 9.30 p.m. sharp. No entries will be received after this date. The competitions will commence in the week beginning Aion day, Alay 28. Ellis, a promising colt, who has joined up with Crown Brewery, only com rmenoed shooting this season. He is putting up some good scores and is fast improving. He has the keenness ari.J the patience necessary in the making ol a good shot. Several prominent riflemen who have had a shoot on the new association range informed the writer that the lighting and target arrangements are very good. One said that the arrange mentte are a credit to those revsponsible, and. that there should not be any com plaint* about not having enough room, which was tbe case on other ranges. The secretary of the association will be iveH pleased at having his long-felt want fulfilled in the shape of a private office. G. Green, who shot for the Linwood Club Last year, has joined up with AVard s Club. H. Judkins, a son of the well-known rifleman, “Fred" Judkins, has joine-l up with the Cashmere Club, and is showing promise. His father did a fair amount of miniature shooting, notablv with the Christchurch Defence Club m 1916, when they had to fire off with Railway for the championship. H.
