THE WEATHER.
RAIN IN THE CITY. At an early hour this morning heavy rain commenced to fall in Christchurch and continued fairly steadily throughout the morning. A reading taken at the observatory at noon to-day showed that .232 inches of rain had fallen. At 1 p.m. to-day it was still raining and there was no sign of the weather clearing. There was n light wind froir. the south-west, hut i„he day was not particularly cold. Yesterday the weather was close ond warm for this time of the year. The sky was overcast but. except for a light shower in the afternoon, no rnin fell during the 4a j.
