The fact that the Metropolitan Trotting Club’s ground is not included in tile Riccarton borough was mentioned, by the Mayor (Mr A. D. Ford) last night. He said that the plan of the j borough looked peculiar with a piece i taken out of it. The ground wo-uld be j rated on the unimproved value if it was | brought into the borough, but the club j could stand the increase. The borough ; would have to stand the tremendous traffic on the Riccarton road when race meetings were on. Mr A. L. Gee. the Town Clerk, remarked that the ground v.as practically a peninsula jutting into the borough. The Mayor said that steps would have to be taken to rectify the matter. The plan should be shown to the Minister of Internal Affairs.
