SUMNER LIFE-SAVING CLUB DANCE.
Last evening af the Town Hall at ten nine i tlie lute Saving Club held its annual dance and prize giving. There was a large attendance of residents and a most enjoyable evening was spent in dancing to the music played by ( larkson's Band. The decorations which were most uncommon -were carried cut in the club colours, red and blue, in long streamers suspended from the centre of the ceiling w ith shorter .streamers suspended from each. Tho stage was decorated w ith large bow is of chrysanthemums and foliage, while two lifesaving reels helped to keep in mind the object of the society. The Benson Shield which was won again this year by the Sumner team, was also on view. Mr 11. Buttle, chairman of the committee presented the prizes donated by Messrs Regnault. T. and S. Smith, J. Maxwell, F. J . Glackin. J. C. AF Donald, J. Browne, and I*. Dick. The prizelist was as follows: Newburgh Cup.- R. AYilkinson. winner of the highest aggregate marks in resuscitation and single-handed rescue ; resuscitation, C. S. Booth 1, A. C. Allen 2. Single-handed rescue, R. Wilkinson. Back-stroke race, O. S. Booth. Breast-stroke race. R. AYilkinson 1, A. (’. Allen 2. Ladies' Race, Miss D. A burn 1. Aliss F. Allen 2. Sea Scout race. Brown 1, East 2.
