VOTING AND COUNTING.

EXPERIMENT SUGGESTED. Mr P. R. Clifhie, organiser of the Canterbury Progress League, has sent the following telegram to the Undersecretary for Internal Affairs : “Progress League yesterday resolved to urge Government to under take or authorise count of Christchurch municipal voting papers on English Society’s method, which enormously reduces the time occupied and simplifies count. Cost not exceed thirty pounds. In view of the number of candidates, seats and votes, the election is of world-wide interest. and the simplification of the count would be a great benefit if proportional representation is ad oped in the future.”
