The crowd was below the average. The Communists attended in full force, but one speaker declared that the day was likely to prove a failure, owing to what he described as the *' pigheaded apathy ” of trade unionists. GERMAN DISORDERS. BERLIN. May 2. May Day passed off quietly in Berlin and Munich Disorders occurred *: Regensburg aud Lichtentels between National Socialists and Social Demo crate. Ovm was killed and several wounded at Regensburg. SMALL STRIKES IN AMERICA. NEW YORK. May 1. Sporadic small strikes among various industries in ten Eastern American cities occurred on May Day. involving less than 50.000 workers. There was m. violence, though in several cities tho police were compelled to disperse overflow audiences at Socialist meetings. RADICALS IN JAPAN. TOEi'O. Alav 1. Various parades of workers, displaying red bands, occurred here and in neighbouring cities. Large forces oi police kept older, a few arrests being made. The police strictly enforced tho regulation against the display of the red flag. Large gatherings were ad dressed by Radical speakers.
