The Prince of Wales, after a day on the Somme, arrived at Amiens dust-cov-ered, wearing a black and while check cap and a grey suit. Ho had laid a wreath on the memorial at Yimy Ridge, and during his long tour went to almost every British cemetery. He visited the field near St Jean, whore lie was nearly blown up during the war. and went **.o the simple peasant dwelling where he had been billeted. Sir Lionel Halsey said that this tour, to the Prince, was the most interesting ito had ever made. After a rest, the Prince went for a walk in the Amiens streets, pausing outside the Cathedral, in which there are memorials of Australians, Americans, Newfoundlanders. Canadians and British, as if remembering the days -:f 1918. when the faint hearted feared that Amiens could not he saved.
