TACTLESS DISPLAY OF CANE. LONDON, April 20. School children are joyfully supporting the strike of teachers in the Croyc.on district. New teachers, when installed. were greeted with cries of “Blackleg!” and the disorder that broke out was reminiscent of the revolt at Dotheboys Hall, in “ Nicholas Niekleby.” V* lien one of the teachers threatened to use a cane he was mobbed bv the pupils and pelted with books. ‘ The ! police had to be called in to restore j order.
