CITY ELECTIONS.
CARR RECEIVES QUOTA FOUR MORE ELIMINATED. On the 214th count of preferences cast in the City Council election Carr v/as elected shortly after noon to-day. Of the total counts 69 were effective. The following candidates had been eliminated : Citirens’ Association. Rowse Cooper. Labour Parfcv. Martin Robson G. T. Owen. 1 ndepenclents. Pearl Hampton Gant The prospects after the election of C arr were that O. AY. B. Anderson and Mrs M’Combs would be the next can didates t-o secure election. Good pro-
press was made by Anderson during this morning’s counts. Though no definite prediction is made a, to when the council counts will be completed, it is confidently hoped that the work will conclude this evening. The way will then be clear for dealing with the papers in the Harbour Board and Hospital Board elections. The papers have been sorted in readiness for the official count, but a start, wit! not he made till the City Council counts have been disposed of.
