TO-DAY’S POLL.
EXCITEMENT AT OAMARU MR MASSEY LEAVES FOR NORTH. (Special to the *’ Star.’*) OAMARU. May 1. The atmosphere at O&maru to-<lav is electric. Both sides are working strenuously. A large number of motor-cars are being employed, and a record poll is expected as the weather is fine. The Liberal meeting last night was an unparalleled success. The public are still laughing at Mr Wilford’s jokes at the expense of the Reformers. Mr Wilford will remain in Oarnarn to-night Mr Massey having concluded the wearying task of carrying his " second strongest Minister ” in his pocket for * fortnight is returning to the north with his staff tp-day. There are indications that there will be tremendous excitement here to-day. The extra police are remaining till tomorrow. Mr Wilford has received many congratulatory- telegrams from Christchurch and ‘Wellington.
