BOYS’ HIGH SCHOOL.

FUNDS FOR NEW BUILDING. At yesterday’s meeting of the Board of Governors of Canterbury College, the Bovs’ High School Buildings Committee reported that it had received a communication from the Minister of Education approving of a grant of £25.000 towards the cost of erecting the now Boys’ High School at Riccnrtou, and giving consent to the board to borrow a further sum of £25.000 on security of the Boys’ High School endowments. The provision of this £50,000 was sufficient to erect the front block of nineteen classrooms, library, teachers’ rooms, etc. The committee, after consultation with the architect and a full consideration of the plans, recommended that tenders be invited for the whole front block of nineteen classrooms, etc., including the two wing parte, and that the heating and basement for heating be included ’U the tender with such further necessary work as septic tank, tank stand and water supply which were not included in the original tender. It recommended that the two temporary classrooms and the armoury at present at the Boys’ High School Ik* shifted to Riocarton to form two laboratories. and th it. a new workshop be erected in sections on the present Boys’ High School ground, so that it would also be available for removal.
