AMERICAN NAVAL VISIT
EXCHANGE OF COURTESIES \(Pr.n Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 30. An official welcome was extended to i the C.S. Ontario and the Governor A of American Samoa, Captain Pollock Sr to-day. Salutes between the Ontario at and H.M.5. Chatham were -exchan V at 10 a.m. W Mr Macvitty, the United States Con- | sul, paid an official call on Captain r Pollock. The Governor then came ashore and was met on behalf of the Government at the Consulate offices. The Government representatives were the Hon C. J. Parr. Mr J. D. Gray, Secretary for External Affairs, and Mr J. Hislop. Under-Secretarv for Internal Affairs. A civic reception was held at th* Town Hall at noon. The Mayor, Mr J. H. Gunson. presided, and Mr Parr represented the Government. Captain Pollock will be a guest at Government House to-night. Ho will leave for Rotorua to-morrow morning, and will spend Wednesday and Thursday there, and will proceed to Wellington on Friday, paying a visit en route to the Waitomo Caves. Next week-end will be spent in Wellington. On this trip the visitors will be accompanied by Mr J. T). Gray and Mr J. Hislop.
