CHURCH CONGRESS.

-V l , t} J e meeting of the committee which has jn hand arrangements for the Church of England Congress which is to i>e held in Christchurch from May 22 to May 25, the reports of special committees were considered. The publicity committee reported that it had arranged a full scheme of advertising the congress by means of posters, advertising in the newspapers, and the issue of leaflets, arid the use of small tickets to advertise the men’s meetings. 'The hospitality committee reported that at lea-st 200 people from places outside Christchurch would attend the congress Up till the present sufficient accommodation had not been received. It was decided to ask tne clergy to appeal to their congregations asking for more otters of hospitality. it, was reported that arrangements were Avell in hand for the Sunday school demonstration classes. A special committee was set up to make preparations for the sittings of the congress, and to go into the matter of what rooms would be required. The exhibition committee reported that there had been a good response to the invitation to scud in exhibits for the exhibition, especially in the educational section. A fair mini her of offers had come in in reply to requests for photographs and his torical matter, but the committee would like to receive more dealing with the history ol some of the older churches. It was announced that Mr Strachey had consented to act as director of the exhibition, and to look after the business side of the congress. It, was decided that, exhibits .should be sent in for the exhibition to Christ’s Cotl«se on the Saturday and Monday before
