FELTON V. HANNAN. HANNAN WINS. (Pee Press Association.) NtiLSON, April 28. Felton passed the post three feet in front, but Hannan was declared the winner on a foul.. REQUEST FOR POSTPONEMENT. (Per Press Association.) N£iLSOi\, April 28. Glorious weather is prevailing. The Felton-Hannan sculling race is timed to commence at 3.30 this afternoon. Acting under medicaj advice Felton approached the committee with a view to having the race postponed for a week. The committee decided that it had no control over the matter and referred it to the competitors themselves. After a conference between the scullers, conditions as to a postjKjnement could not be agreed to, and it was resolved to race as originally intended. Hannan won the championship of New Zealand on November 20. 1920, when he defeated W. Fogwell. the holder, on the Wairau River, Marlborough. Fogwell won the title from George Welch., at- Ak&voa, on April 17, 1911. Dick Arnst defeated Hannan over the Wairau course, on June 11, 1921. but on October 29 of the same year Hannan regained t-ho title by defeating ‘■ Jumbo Weils ” on the Wai rau River. On March 22. 1922, Hannan again met Fogwell on th e Wairau and iron with ease. Felton first, came into prominence when be defeated Ernest Barry over the Thames championship course on October 27, 1919. for the world’* championship. The Englishman was not satisfied that he had been in his best form at the time, and challenged Felton for a return match. This was decided over the Pr.rramatta course on August 28. 1920, when Barry succeeded in regaining the title. Since then Felton has not been a contestant in any match race.
