EXPORTS SHOW AN INCREASE. “Tlie value of imports has decreased by £1,088,850. and the value of exports has increased by £547,587, as compared with the amounts dealt with during th> previous year in Lyttelton, said the chairman of the Harbour Board to-day in his annual statement; “but, as tho imports still exceed the exports by £637.507, the position is not altogether satisfactory while the balance is so much against us, and the need for greater production and economy by the general community is urgent-, so that the country may be placed in a sound position by having the balance in our “ I am very pleased to record tlie very good prices being realised Cor many of our primary products this season. AYool has been selling at a very high rate for all classes. Fat lambs have been realising very high prices, and fat sheep generally have been selling well. The price for dairy produce also has been good. Tbe effect of these good prices will be to bring a large amount of money into the country, which will materially help to relieve the financial difficulties of many returned
soldiers and others on the land, and, incidentally. will also circulate and tend to brighten trade generally.”
