Mr Theodore delivered a policy speech at Cairns. He said that there would be no increase in taxation. Exemption for income tax would be increased to £3OO. His policy, he said, included th© abolition of prohibition polls, the curtailment of hours of trading. Sugar pools would be established if the Commonwealth prohibited the importation of Elack grown sugar. Mr Theodore added that the last prohibition poll would be held in October. Mr Vowles, leader of th© Country Party, in his policy speech charged the Labur Gvernmeot with increasing the national debt from £57.000,000 to £86,000,000. He advocated country development.
