The establishment of a girl* club in 1 Sydenham, by the Young Women’s Christ- . ien Association, ia meeting with the widest , sympathy and inetrest. Miss Marjorie • Bln ok. National Y.M.O.A, Organiser of Girls Club*, who is at present, visiting New Zealand association*, held a meeting of gnls in the Footballers’ Hall, Sydenham, on Monday night, when, in spite of the wintry weather, a meet enthusiastic audienoe listened as Miss Black explained tdie object, of the meeting, and asked for an expression of the girls' feelings with regard to the forming of a club in Syden. ‘ ham, and whether they were willing to bear their share of responsibility m the matter of rent of room, furnishing, staff- ; ing. eto.. required. . On the motion of Miss Watte, the club . was unanimously deoided upon, aaid a pro- J visional committee of Misses E. Anderson, j M. Hindle. M. Kelly. W. Kalan. M. Bowes. , O. Grantham. V. Barshara, M. Sneexy, I | Lloyd and Watte, was set up. The girls j present undertook to do their best to raise £-200 of the £SOO required for equip ment arid expenses. Miss Black was delighted with the success of the meeting, j and promieed with Miea Johnston Y.W.O.A Club Secretary, to do her share in inter- j eating people, and trying to obtain the. , Yesterday afternoon a meeting of wo . men interested in the same object was ; held by kind permission of the Kinder- , garton Association in the GddfcSow.s Hall, : Hastings Street, when Miss Black spoke , to mothers and other women interested in the formation of this club. Mrs Cracroft Wilson was in the chair, and the Y.W.O.A Board was represented by Mrs G. Bowron, Mrs G. Rlaokmore. Mrs W. Machin, Mrs T. R. Evans and Miss T-’annett. This women’* meeting warmly supported the ,jirls in their efforts, and the committee? w:u> formed, of Meadsmes Lawrence, Munday. W. .Anderson Counew, Talbot. Marshall. Smith. Cummins, Sirctt. Cartwright, Smith and A. Duncan, to help in the ueoAfisary raining of money and making of plans. These two oommittees •rill meet on Thursday next in the new club room in Colombo Street, to report progress and arrange future activities.
