Mr Lloyd George has announced that tlie National Liberals have abandoned the idea of a Centre Party. 'Ho con siders that iio Liberal, as a condition of reunion, should he asked to change his opinion regarding the policy of th? Coalition Governments from 1916 to 1922. “My Edinburgh speech,” he said. “ was a reply to urgent representations received hy Mr Asquith and myself from all parts of the countrv in favour of a Liberal reunion. My earlior offer to confer with the leaders of the Independent liiherals met with no response, but I repeated that ft was still open.”
