ECONOMIC CONFERENCE.

The Colonial Office states that the delay in holding Imperial Economy (.'on Terences is entirely due to circumstances beyond eititer the control ot the Dominions or of Britain notnblv the elections in Australia and New Zealand and the disturbed political conditions in Canada and South Africa and the impending general election in Newfoundland. This explanation i« necessary because newspaper cables from Australia indicate that Australia is impatient over the delays. Mi Bomar Law. within a fortnight after the British elections, communicated with the Dominions requesting then views upon the proposal to hold an economic conference in April, jh evening the Imperial Conference in Jure. The Dominions’ replies revealed the impossibility of carrying out the pro gramme which had now changed to a neriod between September and November. when it is proposed to hold both conference«» concurrently. Tt is sugthat economic experts should neet simultaneous! v with the Premiers -.hereby shortening the proceedings.
