LONDON WOOL SALES. The Department, ot' Agriculture has receive.! the following ca.l«legrain. dated March 7. from the High Commissioner:— Wool—Sales opened in London on March 6 with large attendance. Competition was keen from Continental buyers, but. the Home trade was reserved. Compared with last London closing rates. merino and fine cross-bred ruled from par to 5 per cent cheaper and medium and coarse cross-bred from 5 per cent to 7% per cent FRUIT AND VEGETABLES. LOCAL MARKET CONDITIONS. The Director of the Horticulture Division has received the following reports from the F.ruit Inspector on the condition of locally grown fruit and vegetables in shops, ajicf auction rooms, and the market 192» :- Stone fruits have been coming forward in smaller Muontities. prices having been very fair. The. fruit has been arriving in very good condition with an absence ol brown rot. Apples are coming forward in larger quantities, particularly from the Nejsou district. Prices have been lower than previously. Pears have been coming forward in small quantities and prices have been low. large quantities and prices have been on the low side. Vegetables.—These have been coming forward freely with only fair demand and prices rather poor.
