CRICKET. bast week the Senior (under IS) Boys' Association representatives played two games. The first asainst a team selected by the honorary secretary (Mr S. A. Biltcliff/ was interrupted by heavy rain, only the association sido batting. The other game was played against. Anderson’s Foundry and proved an easy win for the Tn the former game the association lost the toss and were sent, to the wickets, the opening batsmen being bilburne and Lisle. Lilburne faced -I. Gordon, and off his third delivery scored a rwo. Off the seventh ball LiTburne again scored, this time it being a single. D. Maxwell howled to 131burne. who cut him through slips, and Lisle blocked out the over. The next, over Lilburne gained four off Gordon, and Lisle opened hi? accou.ht with a single. The. later batsman continued to be cautious, but Lilburne began to bit out. and reached 14 when he lifted one to King at silly mid-on. The total was then ]9. Lisle having one run to his credit, whilst four byes had been recorded. J. Gohns joined Lisle, and brisker play followed. Runs mounted quickly, and L. Worthington replaced Gordon. Fits first, over cost three, but in his secoml a slow off break tempted Gohns and L. Smith took a good catch at square leg. Golins bad scored seven and the total was 43. W. If. King replaced Maxwell, and sent down a maiden. Worthington’s third over proved expensive, fifteen runs being scored off (he first seven balls, but with the eighth Lisle departed clean-bowled. Holmes came on. and after giving a chance in slips settled down. Runs still came fairly quickly. hut at fi2 Gordon, who had replaced Worthington, got Tomlinson with a wellpitched one which he lifted In Worthington. The outgoing batsman had scored 13. J. Premlerghst was the next pinn in. but after thr total had reached 0-T he lifted one to Biltcliff and departed for sevev. Barnes joined Holmes, but the latter was n'li’cst immediately dismissed. being caught behind the wickets by ,S. R. Curieton off Gordon’s howling. Holmes, uiio had scored a nice 32. was succeeded by Grafton. who hatted very cautiously. Barnes went when the total was 113. falling to a slow one from W. 11. King, a weak stroke- seeing him caught at cover by S. O'Brien. Barnes had scored 0. ,T. H. Moore and Fleming followed, hut left without, adding to the total. Wnine joined Grafton. and immediately commenced to hit out at Smith, who had replaced Fitcaithly. Maxwell came on again, and nt I.V. after lie had scored 32, Waine was caught and bowled by King. Anderson's won the toss and went to the wickets, their- innings closing for 87. double figure scorers being It. Lattimore 35 and C. Singleton 15. Lilburna bowled very well, taking five wiek--Bts in eight, overs, two of which were maidens. for 27 runs. A. Tomlinson, none fot--18: E. Grafton, one for five; J. Barnes, none for 20, and E. Ambrose, two for 10. also bowled. The association opened with Eilburnc and Tomlinson, and both batsmen bit out freely. Cox and Stevenson were the bowlers. Clarke replaced Stevenson, and his second delivery saw Talburne clean-bowled. Tomlinson was joined by Grafton, who. after scoring a, dozen, mishit a short lee one from Clarke and was canght by Davison behind the stumps. Holmes filled the joined Holmes, who was batting freely, and , the score steadily mounted. The incomer, however, after reaching? 15, got in front to a straight one from Cox and departed Ibw. Barnes joined Holmes and hatted cautiously. Holmes, however, still hit out. but finally Holloway came on. and after being banged for four connected with the centre stump. Holmes had scored 111, which included two «i S es and nineteen fours. Fleming joined Barnes, who now commenced to bat more freely, reaching 25 when he retired. Lisle was next man in. anil he hit out very freely. However. |»fier chanc« he was howled slow one from Burns, "was caught by Clarke. Moore retired and Ambrose and Rowe carried on. After both had secured double f figures the innings was declared fn their second knock Anderson’s did better. scoring 112. Double figures were made by Davison 21.
