Floranc-e. of Hong Kong ( niversity. was appointed to th ■ '■•hair of Physics in place of Profess'*.• Marsden. who lurs resigned. Professor T'lorance i< a New Zealander, who h;», had a brilliant career in rescan h work under Sir Ernest Rutherford. He has been lecturer and demonstrator at Manchester University. He'is thirteen gilt years of age. and saw act ive service in the Great War. He has ha 1 a wide experience in laboratory organisation. as demonstrator and lecture’-. He graduated in New Zealand a- AI.A.. with first-class honour®, m 1908. on ! M.Sc. in 1909. The appointment was made on Sir Ernest Rutherford’s re commendation out: of thirteen applications from various parts of the Empire.
