NOISY MOTOR CYCLES.

TO THE EDITOH. Sir, —Your remarks in last night’a “ Star ” drawing attention to the j grave nuisance caused by motor cyclists : who career about the streets of Christchurch at night with noisy exhausts, Is i very timely, and you are deserving of | thanks for drawing attention to this class of "road hogging.” 1 trust that the police and our traffic inspectors will make strenuous efforts to bring some of these offender to book, and that tile Magistrates will co-opei-ate by inflicting heavy fines. Personally, I think that motor cyclists who are convicted of riding with noisy exhausts (say for a second time), should have their licenses cancelled and their machines should be confiscated. However I suppose that at present the law I does not allow of such a course but. in my opinion, it would be none too drastic. I have had some experience of this class of “ road bog.” A year or two ago when occupying a room on j the side of the house facing the street E was disturbed practically every night by a motor cyclist starting his machine about midnight. The. din was intoler- } able and, a.s it generally continued for some minutes, many people living in the street must have been disturbed. This is only one example. Most of your readers could, I am sure, relate similar experiences. Trusting the authorities will take this matter up. I am, ets., NORTH BELT.
