When the Irregulars reached the centre of Memel, there was a violent combat for the High Commissioner’s offices. The High Commissioner, owing to the numerical superiority of the invaders, ordered the garrison to cease firing. A truce was arranged, and a i.cutral zone established. The Commissioner sent the leader of the insurgents a strong protest against the coup-de-force. The Ambassadors’ Conference will deal with the situation to-morrow.
