LAWN TENNIS.
NEW SOUTH WALES LADIES ARRIVE. The team of four New South Wales ladies arrived in Christchurch this morning, and were welcomed by the president of the Canterbury Association (Mr W. N. Beay). the secretary (Mr Wyon Stevens) and several of the leading players, including: Mr W. Goss. The North Island ladies who are to compete in Christchurch were also welcomed. The New South Wales ladies. Misses Lance, T.loyd and Gray, and Mrs Lascelles. are the guests of Mr and Mrs !<\ J. Murray at. 11 ftt. Elmo." The North Island, ladies, Misses Macfarlane, Fenwick and Clark and Howe, are also staying with friends. The visitors hope to practise at, United to-morrow if the courts are hard enough. The open tournament, in which they are to compete with twelve New Zealand ladies, will bo commenced at the United courts on Friday morning, and will be continued on Saturday.
